Step 1: Raw Material Selection and Inspection

Incoming coil is checked against the specified material grade before it enters production. Step 2: Mold Mounting and Alignment

The stamping die is mounted and aligned on the press so mold height and flatness match the press specification. Correct alignment at this stage is what keeps every washer in the run dimensionally consistent, rather than relying on inspection to catch problems later.

Step 3: Precision Stamping

Once the die is confirmed, the press runs at a set speed and pressure to punch washers from the coil. Operators monitor the stamping process continuously rather than leaving it fully unattended, since even small pressure or feed variations can affect outer diameter, inner diameter, or burr condition. Standard tolerance is typically controlled to 0.03–0.05 mm, with 0.01–0.02 mm achievable for higher-precision requirements.

Step 4: In-Process Patrol Inspection and First Article Confirmation

Patrol inspectors sample parts at set intervals throughout each shift. Whenever a die is changed or a new production run starts, a first article inspection is performed: dimensions and appearance are checked against the drawing before the machine is approved to continue mass production. Parts stamped before this sign-off are not released to the next stage.

Step 5: Surface Grinding

Thin stamped washers, particularly those under 7 mm outer diameter, can show slight thickness unevenness right after stamping. A grinding pass evens out the surface and brings thickness into a consistent range before the parts move into heat treatment.

Step 6: Heat Treatment and Hardness Testing

Washers are heat-treated to reach the target hardness for their material and application, typically HRC 43–50 for 65Mn, SK5, and SK7 spring steel. Step 7: Secondary Grinding

Heat treatment can cause minor thermal deformation in thin washers. A second grinding pass restores flatness and brings thickness back within the approved tolerance before the parts are approved for packaging.

Step 8: Final Packaging and Sampling Inspection

Before shipment, packaging staff run a final sampling check covering appearance, dimensions, quantity, and label accuracy. Random samples are pulled from each batch rather than relying only on in-line inspection earlier in the process.
